Travelling to Porto de Galinhas
To get to Porto de Galinhas, the nearest airport is the Recife International Airport (REC), located in Recife, Pernambuco. Currently, there are direct international flights (flights where it is not necessary to change planes) to Recife departing from:

Recife is one of the major hubs in Northeast Region in Brazil. There are direct flights to Recife from most of the major Brazilian cities including Salvador, Fortaleza, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Campinas, and Brasília.
Transfer from the Aiport (REC) to Porto de Galinhas
Porto de Galinhas is a beach resort town very close to the City of Recife, the capital of the State of Pernambuco, on the northeast coast of Brazil. The closest airport is the Recife International Airport (REC), which is located 50 Km from the Hotel Armação. There are several ways to transfer from REC to Porto de Galinhas and Hotel Armação, described below.
Warning: in the arrival lounge of the airport, you will likely be approached by individuals offering a ride to Porto de Galinhas. These individuals are not official taxi drivers, and we recommend that you do not use their services. The official taxi companies have professionals wearing uniforms and ID tags. If you choose a taxi, prefer the established companies although their prices may be higher.
By Ride-sharing Applications
There are two ride-sharing application working in the area: Uber and 99Taxi. These applications are legalized in Brazil, and there are specific locations in the airport where you can safely meet your ride. The app will instruct you on how to get to these locations.
The basic fare varies according to the type of car (e.g., UberX or Select, from Uber) and time of the day. For instance, at the time of writing this information the UberX fare was R$ 103.00 (Brazilian Reals) from the airport in Recife to Hotel Armação. The trip takes 50 minutes in non-peak hours and can take up to 2 hours in peak hours (between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM).
Warning: before starting your journey, make sure the license plate of the car matches the one informed on the ride-sharing app (Uber or 99Taxi).
By Taxi
There are two types of taxis: regular taxis (taxi comum) and special taxis (taxi especial).
Regular taxis are at the arrival area, exit A5. Trips to Recife and nearby places in the metropolitan area are charged according to the meter. Trips to Porto de Galinhas from Recife Airport have a fixed price of R$ 168.00.
Special taxis (bigger and more comfortable) are parked at the exit A4. To Porto de Galinhas, they charge about R $ 268.00 according to the list price.
Prices can be negotiated.

By Rental Car
Most international rental companies are located inside Recife Airport, in the arrival’s lounge. As usual, it is mandatory to have a valid driver’s license, passport, and credit card. It is essential to book a rental car in advance, as Recife is a bustling airport. The quickest route from Recife Airport to Porto de Galinhas is by taking a toll route. Doing so, you will need to have some Brazilian currency to pay for it (it does not accept credit cards, and only accept small bills). The toll fee is R$ 8.10 each way.
Warning: We strongly suggest you do not make this trip in after dark without a navigation system (GPS) as the signals on the route are not easy to follow. Further, the road can be very busy with heavy truck traffic as it crosses a major industrial port area.
By Bus
Another option is to travel by bus. The company Vera Cruz offers this service. The bus line (195 – Recife/Porto de Galinhas) runs from Recife airport to downtown Porto de Galinhas (it does not stop at Hotel Armação). At the Recife Airport, the bus stop is located at the exit A4 just after crossing the first car lane. The bus ticket costs approximately R$ 16.00. It is a regular city bus. It does not need reservations and there is no possibility of assign seats. Just hop in and drop off in Porto de Galinhas downtown. From Porto de Galinhas’ bus stop you can reach the Armação Hotel by taking a local taxi.

The email should have the subject: “[ESEIW 2019] Request for Visa support letter”, and the following information needs to be provided:
- Full name (as it appears in the passport);
- Number of the passport;
- Nationality;
- Country of permanent residence;
- Full mailing address;
- An indication if you need the signed letter sent by e-mail (pdf with a scanned copy), mail or both;
- If you are presenting a paper, please provide the title;
- Your registration number. You will receive the registration number after registering.
