I’m a professor and researcher in the Computer Science School at PUCRS and director of TECNOPUC, one of the benchmarking science and technology parks in Brazil, with more than 150 organizations and 6,500 people in 90,000 m2 of built area. As a professor I teach Software Engineering, Agile Methodologies, Entrepreneurship and Science, Technology & Innovation. As a researcher, my current work focuses on distributed software development and agile methods for software development. I’m interested in how global software engineering impacts organizational decisions, the role of Brazil in the global IT industry, how global software engineering interplays with agile methods, and how to build high performance teams. In 2011 I received the PhD innovation award, promoted by FAPERGS (the state of Rio Grande do Sul funding agency) for the research on global software engineering, conducted in collaboration with companies at Tecnopuc. Im also the chair of the IEEE Software magazine advisory board, and one of the founders of the Agile Alliance Brazil (being a member of the Board of Directors from 2013 to 2017). I’m also one of the coordinators of the research group on distributed software development at PUCRS - www.inf.pucrs.br/munddos and the local agile methodologies user group (GUMA) - https://xp-rs.blogspot.com/.

My professional goal is to help my students, companies and people in general to reach high levels of quality and productivity in education, innovation, researching, and consultancy in my areas of interests.
